Much Loved

Much Loved started as a simple idea, to photograph my son Calum’s teddy Peter Rabbit as a portrait. Then I thought it might make a good exhibition for my studio gallery, so I asked my clients to bring in their kid’s teddy bears. But what happened was a lot of adults brought in their cherished teddy and while they were waiting, they told their stories.
The exhibition was a success and I put them on my website. That’s when things got interesting.
Much Loved went viral. Buzzfeed picked it up and within a month it had 16 million hits. Every day I would come in to find it on another new site somewhere in the world. China, Australia, Russia, America, every day another country.
Then on the very day I first thought, I wonder if I could make a book of it, Abrams in New York emailed to ask if I would consider making Much Loved a book.

Much Loved the book

Much Loved was released in 2013 and was quite a hit around the world, selling over 50,000 copies and was translated into Korean and Japanese. It is now unfortunately out of stock on Abrams website, which I imagine means out of print.
